MUSIC
In high school I began playing and performing folksongs with my friend Steve Prentice. We started writing our own songs and in our junior year had a tape of them pressed into records. We quickly sold out the 400 copies we'd made to friends and family. This was heady stuff for a couple of 17 year olds. I think this was the 15 minutes of fame Andy Warhol promised me.
A year out of high school while playing some coffeehouses and the audition circuit in Boston we made another record of new material. Alas with our fan base dispersed most of these remained in their boxes. Shortly thereafter Steve and I went our separate ways.
I continued to play the guitar but it was ten years before I tried to write songs on my own. Having never been prolific a good year produces two. Finally in 1998 I recorded what I'd written to that point. It is just me and a guitar as I might play for friends in a living room. I get my best reviews from folks who listen in their cars where the lyrics are more easily understood.
